Lets call it the Big Reshuffle.

All 6 Levels of College Football will impacted by the new roster limits.

Soon FBS rosters will be capped at 105 players. This means over 3,000 FBS players will be told they have to find a new home. To compound matters, currently the 129 FCS, 162 D2, 97 NAIA, 243 D3 and 147 JUCO teams have scant ability to expand their rosters.

This New FBS Roster limit will ignite a chain reaction of players moving to different levels of college football in order to find a place to play.

The landscape of college football is dramatically changed. The days of the FBS Walk-On is essentially over. The lower levels of College Football will be injected with a level of talent unseen before and High School Players will be forced to be more realistic about which level of CFB is a fit for them.

A ton of chatter out there about the Portal, NIL$, and Collectives, but often its the least talked about things that have the most impact.

Know Your Audience.

The purpose of your HUDL highlights is to have

a college coach evaluate your ability to play for their program.

First Things First.

This information should be on your opening slide.:

Name

Position

Graduation Year

School

The 2nd slide will have:

Head Coaches Name

Contact Info (email and/or phone#).

45-60 Seconds...

Coaches are professional evaluators who can quickly assess your ability to help their team. Dont waste time. Put your best plays 1st and trim the clips so you can show your best 8-10 plays in a minute or less.

What Is A Highlight

Simple. It is a play that would make a college coach stop & look.

10 Throws That Will Help A Coach Evaluate You

  1. Touch Throw Long (vertical)

  2. Touch Throw Short (screen)

  3. Velocity Throw Across The Middle

  4. Out Route Throw

  5. Athletic Run

  6. Physical Run

  7. Escape The Pocket Throw

  8. Scramble Throw

  9. Facing Pressure Throw

  10. Clutch Performance Play

I Play Multiple Positions.

1st segregate your clips. 2nd, create an "intro" slide for each position you play. This will let the coach know what they are about to see.

QB Spotlight or No?

Your choice, but every college coach knows how to locate the QB on film, so spotlights are not needed

Music

Remember your audience! If you do add music make sure the lyrics are clean and positive.

Look closely at the picture.

Do you see 80,000 NFL passing yards and a Super Bowl Ring?

No?

Don't worry.

You are not alone.

Good thing Drew Brees always believed in himself!

He started out as a nationally ranked 12 & Under Tennis player and didn't play football until 9th grade. Check out Before he was famous

OVERLOOKED!

Undefeated(28-0-1, 5,000 passing yds & 50 TDs) High School State Champion in Texas = Zero in state offers

Leads Purdue to its 1st Rose Bowl appearance in 33 years = Drafted in the 2nd round -"he is too short for the NFL"

CAREER OVER?

After being injured, released by the San Diego Chargers.

As Always, Please Google/YouTube and do a deeper dive on Mr. Brees - his journey is worth knowing.
